1-54 New Yor returns for its 10th year with the most extensive edition yet. Running from May 1-4, 2024, in a new location in the heart of Chelsea, Manhattan, the fair will feature over 30 galleries exhibiting the work of more than 70 artists from Africa and the global diaspora.
The fair will be held for the first time at the Starrett-Lehigh Building, a prominent property that serves as a creative campus for influential companies in fashion, entertainment, media, architecture, and design. This move underscores 1-54's commitment to expanding its impact on the city and aligning with Frieze New York, another significant art fair held concurrently.
1-54 New York 2024 will present a diverse lineup of galleries from cities such as Lagos, Lausanne, Miami, and London, including eight participants making their debut at the fair. This expansion reflects the fair's mission to showcase the richness and diversity of contemporary African art on a global stage.
The fair's VIP and press preview will be held on Wednesday, May 1, from 2 pm to 7 pm, and Thursday, May 2, from 11 am to 7 pm. The public opening hours are Friday, May 3, from 11 am to 7 pm, and Saturday, May 4, from 11 am to 7 pm.
