Medalta, a hub of creativity and artistic exploration, is once again inviting artists from all over the world to apply for its renowned Artists in Residence program. Located in the heart of a thriving creative community, Medalta provides a unique opportunity for artists at all stages of their careers—whether emerging, mid-career, or established—to immerse themselves in an environment that fosters innovation, experimentation, and community.

The residency program at Medalta offers three flexible residency options: One-Month, FLEX (2+ months), and Year-Long residencies, making it accessible to artists with varying needs and schedules. This program provides exceptional studio space and facilities where artists can explore new aspects of their craft, experiment with material research, and push the boundaries of contemporary ceramics. Medalta is equipped with various kilns, including gas, salt, soda, wood, and raku, providing artists with the freedom to explore different firing techniques and expand their practice in exciting new directions.
What sets the Medalta residency apart is its emphasis on community-driven learning and collaboration. Artists are encouraged to interact, share, and engage with each other, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and creative energy. With 24/7 access to fully equipped semi-private studios, expert staff support, and lodging options available, Medalta is committed to creating a nurturing and productive environment where artists can take creative risks and develop new work.
The Friends of Medalta Society, which has long been at the forefront of creative development in areas such as museology, social enterprise, and community engagement, continues to support this invaluable program. Their commitment is further strengthened by the generous funding from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Government of Canada, making this residency a truly transformative opportunity for artists.
