FNB Art Joburg, the longstanding art fair showcasing contemporary African art and culture, is set to return to the Sandton Convention Centre from September 6-8, 2024.
Now in its 17th edition, the fair has established itself as a premier platform for presenting the best in African and diasporic art. This year's event will see a new focus on photography, with the introduction of a dedicated GIF (Gallery Image Format) section.
The fair will be divided into six specialized sections - gallery HUB, gallery LAB, MAX, ETC, AUX, and ORG - each highlighting different aspects of the contemporary African art scene. Visitors can expect to see works from internationally renowned galleries as well as emerging artists from across the continent.
Faye Mfikwe, FNB's chief marketing officer, emphasized the fair's role in creating a "culture of appreciation and ownership that empowers creative talent in South Africa and the African continent."
Preceding the FNB Art Joburg event, the BMW Art Generation supported by FNB will take place on August 31, featuring a range of cultural programming to kick off the Open City 2024 festivities.
Art enthusiasts and collectors are eagerly anticipating the return of this landmark event, which continues to play a vital role in elevating the profile of contemporary African art on the global stage.
