The Ghana Culture Forum (GCF) has unveiled a new website aimed at enhancing the visibility and promotion of Ghanaian cultural heritage, and to serve as a central hub for information and resources on Ghanaian arts, culture, and heritage. The website launched on November 26, 2024, in a gathering of cultural stakeholders and enthusiasts at the Accra Tourist Information Centre. The platform is designed to educate, inform, and engage users on Ghana's rich cultural legacy while fostering a deeper appreciation for the country's creative arts sector.
At the launch event, GCF Chairman Nana Otuo Owoahene Acheampong emphasized the importance of the website as a tool for effective engagement and outreach. He encouraged everyone to contribute to making the platform vibrant and impactful.“For any organization in today’s world, having an active and resourceful website is non-negotiable. Without it, you’re essentially operating in the dark. We encourage everyone to contribute to making this platform vibrant and impactful,” he stated.
Acheampong also stated that the forum's 2025 program will focus on advocacy-driven initiatives and activities aimed at elevating Ghana's cultural and creative industries.“In January 2025, we will announce our key focus areas for the year, staying true to our mission of advocacy and cultural promotion,” he revealed.
A program officer for Culture in Ghana highlighted UNESCO's role in establishing the Ghana Culture Forum and called on stakeholders to maximize the website's potential as a unifying space for cultural discourse and education. He noted that the website could host valuable resources, such as African history written from an African perspective. “This platform provides an opportunity to reach young people, helping them discover their cultural identity, appreciate their heritage, and take pride in who they are no matter where they find themselves,” he affirmed.
The Ghana Culture Forum is committed to strengthening the capacities of professionals in the cultural sector through research, advocacy, and policy development. The forum aims to drive progress within Ghana's cultural and creative industries by championing key legislative reforms and initiatives.
