Following a collaboration with the Football Association that fuses artistic innovation and sporting legacy, the Nigerian-British creative prodigy Olaolu Akeredolu-Ale, better known as Olaolu Slawn, has designed a sui-generis trophy for the 2024 Emirates FA Cup.
The 23-year-old Lagos-born artist, infamous for his striking spray paint murals, bold pop art canvases, and thought-provoking graffiti, was handpicked by the English Football Association to lend his distinctive vision to the prestigious trophy. Working in tandem with the esteemed design house Thomas Lyte, Slawn has crafted a trophy that masterfully blends time-honoured tradition with his signature contemporary aesthetic.
Slawn's design for the 2024 FA Cup trophy comes after his historic achievement in 2023 as the youngest person to design the iconic Britannia statuette for the annual BRIT Awards.
As the highly anticipated final of the 2024 FA Cup approaches on May 25th, football enthusiasts and art lovers alike eagerly await the moment when the trophy, imbued with Slawn's avant-garde touch, will be hoisted by the victorious team.
