Osei Bonsu Named VIA Curatorial Fellowship 2023 Recipient


The VIA Art Fund has recently announced the recipients of its 2023 grant program! Includes three categories of grants this year–the Artistic Production Grant Fund, the VIA Wagner Incubator Grant Fund, and the VIA Curatorial Fellowship–Among the recipients is Osei Bonsu, who has been named the VIA Curatorial Fellowship 2023 Recipient.

Osei Bonsu is a British-Ghanaian Curator and Writer ad a notable leader in the art world. Currently serving as the Curator of International Art at the Tate Modern London, his work has made him a respected figure in the field. Bonsu curated several successful exhibitions during his tenure at the museum, including the critically acclaimed "Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power" in 2017 and "Meschac Gaba: Museum of Contemporary African Art" in 2013.


The fellowship is a prestigious award that recognises emerging curatorial talent and provides them with the opportunity to advance their careers. As the recipient of the VIA Curatorial Fellowship, Bonsu will receive a $25,000 grant to support his curatorial research and travel. Bonsu's selection as the 2023 recipient of this coveted award only solidifies his position as an emerging leader in the field.


The VIA Art Fund is a non-profit organisation that provides support to contemporary artists, curators, museums, and arts nonprofits. Previous recipients of the VIA Curatorial Fellowship include Xiaoyu Weng, who is now the Director of the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and Yasmil Raymond, who is the Associate Director and Curator at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. With emerging leaders like Osei Bonsu at the forefront of the contemporary art world, the future looks bright for the VIA Art Fund and the arts community as a whole.
