The Quramo Writers Prize (QWP) has announced its longlist of 20 manuscripts for the 2024 edition, marking the 8th year of this prestigious award for emerging African writers. The prize, established in 2017, aims to discover and promote new literary talent across the continent.
This year's longlist showcases a diverse group of aspiring authors, reflecting the rich tapestry of African storytelling. The selected manuscripts were chosen from a pool of submissions, each consisting of 30,000-word unpublished fiction works.

A distinguished panel of three judges will now review these manuscripts to select a shortlist of five, expected to be announced in September. The jury comprises Eghosa Imasuen, a writer and executive at Narrative Landscape Press; Lechi Eke, an author and CEO of Finished Work Enterprises; and Anote Ajeluorou, a writer and founder of the culture news platform TheArtHubNg.
The ultimate winner will be revealed at the Quramo Festival 2024, scheduled for October 2-6 at Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos.
The Quramo Writers Prize offers a substantial reward for the winner - a cash prize of 1 million Naira and a publishing contract, providing a significant boost to the author's writing career.
