Curated by Susan Proctor Hume, a participating artist herself, the exhibition features 40 unique works selected from over 100 submissions. The pieces include sculptures crafted from wood and metal, layered fabric collages, paper collages, and installations made from natural materials, all emphasizing the beauty and potential of upcycling. “As the founder of SPH, I have always been committed to providing a space where artists can come together in a supportive, non-competitive environment,” says Hume.
‘From our first event at The Hyde Hotel in Sea Point, my aim has been to connect like-minded artists, curators and creatives in a way that fosters collaboration. We are taking this mission even further by highlighting the beauty of upcycling and the potential of reclaimed materials in the creative process,’ she stated.
Terrence Pearce, a marketing expert from Gorgeous George, has played a key role in organizing this event. His expertise ensures that the message of sustainability and artistic innovation will reach a broad audience. The hotel's professional team, experienced in art installation and presentation, will utilize state-of-the-art hanging systems and lighting to showcase the artwork.
The exhibition is open to the public, free of charge, and all artworks are available for sale. This initiative not only showcases artistic innovation but also invites visitors to contemplate the importance of sustainability in the creative process.
