Gallery 1957 has announced an extension of the application deadline for the fourth edition of the Yaa Asantewaa Art Prize. Female Ghanaian artists now have until October 3rd to submit their applications.
As reported earlier by Art Report Africa, the Yaa Asantewaa Art Prize, named after the prominent Ghanaian Queen Mother, aims to support and uplift emerging and established female artists in Ghana.
The prize details remain unchanged:
First prize: Artist residency and exhibition at Gallery 1957, plus GH₵50,000
First runner-up: GH₵30,000
Second runner-up: GH₵20,000
The jury panel, composed of international experts in contemporary arts and culture, is eagerly anticipating the review of this year's entries. Their diverse expertise ensures a thorough and fair evaluation of each submission.
This extension provides an excellent opportunity for female Ghanaian artists who may have missed the initial deadline.
